Project: interior advice (color, lighting and floor plan) and custom designed steel + glass door with side panels, in Oegstgeest
Marieke and Eelco lived many years in Nieuw Rhijngeest, Oegstgeest and bought a newly built semi-detached house in the same neighbourhood. With the construction ongoing and date of completion in sight, they asked me to help them choose the color scheme, floor planning and lighting.
Steel Sliding Door + Side Panels
Initially, it wasn’t even part of the brief. I just knew they had requested quotes for steel doors. I was so inspired by the architecture of the house that I started sketching. If you are going for a statement piece, it should be a perfect fit, right? After all, it is made to size, so here it is! Realised by GewoonGers.

Color Scheme
It was already decided that they were going for a light warm grey cast floor. But it was hard for them to choose at the store because the possibilities were so vast. That’s when it helps to have a color scheme: seeing all the colors at once you can see how they work together.
As for the colors for the walls, that was still wide open. Through talking I found out that Marieke really likes dark green, but also blue and ocher. Then we made a mood board with photographs she picked and from this process I created to this color scheme:

The living room and study both got different colors but pair well together. The blue (S 2040-B), on the long wall in the living room, sits parallel to the green wall (S 3040-B90G) in the study. Both colors are joined on the side walls (towards the backyard) with a softer version (light blue S2.08.79 and light green S 2010-B90G).

Thank you Marieke and Eelco, for your trust and enthusiasm. I wish you many years of happiness in your beautiful home!
